Thanks for visiting our store. Below you'll find answers to common questions you may have, as well as other policies for our store. If you have other questions or don't see what you're looking for, please go to our contact page to get in touch with us.

Regarding Store Operations:

Where do you source your minerals from?
Our specimens come from a variety of locales across the USA and the world. We work in conjunction with Monarch Minerals, who is the supplier for most of our pieces. Mining Mantis is operated independently regarding our sales and operations. 

Do you sell at gem or mineral shows?
Mining Mantis is strictly an online storefront at this time. Monarch Minerals, our supplier, can be found at many US gem and mineral shows throughout the year. We will update a schedule of where they will be selling at as we find out.

Do you offer discounts of any kind?
Yes, we can offer quantity discounts, please contact us with the pieces you’re interested in and we will negotiate a price.

How can I contact you?
On the top menu you will see a link to our contact page (or click here to be taken there from this page). Fill out the form with all relevant information and we will respond within 1-2 days. If we're ever out on a break or vacation, we will have a notice on the website and our facebook page of when we expect to be able to resume operations.

Can I sell you my collection?
We're always interested in acquiring collections! Please contact us to discuss selling collections, as it will depend greatly on what is contained in the collection, location, and our availability.

I’d like more information about a particular item.
Feel free to contact us with your questions and we will answer to the best of our ability.

Can you tell me the metaphysical properties of a piece, or have any pieces that have the properties I’m looking for?
Sometimes we may give information about minerals as they relate to the people where that mineral is often found and what they believed about it, but otherwise, we only deal with the physical properties of minerals. Feel free to use that information to learn more about any particular mineral.  

Regarding payment, shipping & handling:

Can you ship to my country?
At this time, we only offer shipping to the US. This may change in the future.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We use the Shopify checkout system, which is powered by Stripe. You'll be able to use your credit or debit card, as well as other digital wallets.
If you want to pay by check or with cash, please contact us to see if we can arrange this (although we can't assume any responsibility for money/checks lost in this fashion).

How much will shipping cost?
Shipping & handling/packaging costs is free for purchases of $50 or more. Anything below that will be calculated at check out.

How long will it take to get my items?
Please allow us up to 5 business days to ship out your item from the purchase date. Once we have shipped, you'll get a tracking number so you can monitor your package route. Once in route, it should take 4-7 days to arrive (or 7-14 days for Hawai'i & Alaska.)

Can I request pick up for my order instead of shipping?
For heavy/large orders and especially fragile items, local pick up can be arranged within central Texas (from the Georgetown to San Antonio to Fredericksburg area). For these local pick ups, items must be purchased ahead of time, as we won't carry cash for the safety of both parties. We'll also take a receiving signature for confirmation that the items were delivered. To arrange local pick up, contact us before your purchase to see if we can fulfill in person pick up at that time.

Depending on how long you’re willing to wait, we may also be able to offer pick up within the state of Texas or at certain gem and mineral shows around the US. As always you can contact us to discuss this.

My items arrived damaged.
Please contact us right away so we can work with you to collect insurance on the items or issue a refund.

My items never arrived.
Please contact us and let us know about the situation. All of our items have tracking, so we won't be able to issue a refund due to the carrier losing the package, but collections from losses may be covered in part or full.

(Right now we are exploring more shipping options to ensure our customers will be protected fully in the event of losses or damages caused by shipping)

Can I return my items or get a refund?
If we haven't shipped your order yet, we can arrange to cancel the order.
In general, we do not offer returns due to reasons like buyer’s remorse.
We try our best to give accurate information about each piece, as well as take good photos that represent the piece as close to in-person viewing as we can, so people can be confident with their purchase and know what they will be receiving.
If you would still like to request a return, please contact us and we might be able to issue a refund upon return of the items in the condition they were shipped in.
